Leading up to this season (2023) I had been considering life membership of Essex. I turned 70 this year and the cost dropped to a point where I could reasonably justify the hit. What a shame a decent write up of recent county cricket news has to be spoiled by a sad inability to leave political leanings outside. What has Donald Trump got to do with county cricket ffs, apart from saying more about the writer than might have been otherwise apparent?
