The question isnβt whether the ECB is going to hand control of The Hundred to the counties but whether it SHOULD hand it over. My view is it should. Hence The Fixβ¦
Hi Ed, You have much more experience in this area than I but surely the value of exploring any 'fix' is largely down to whether you can actually execute it. Otherwise, it is a hypothetical. The ECB are still shutting out the counties over The H*ndred, the recent TV deal that secured its short-term future was presented as a 'fait acompli' (like the original launch) and we have even had stories the Β£1.3m payment is not guaranteed for the future. The net gain was reported as only half that as it is. Your fix would have helped at the start and I thought there were reports back then of H*ndred franchises being based on counties eg Spirit were Essex, Middlesex and Northants I think. But it's too late now. And the ECB's actions suggest they are merely tolerating the counties ('serfs' in your words) and certainly not willing to share the spoils from the event that they have bet the house on. In fact, they want to build it up and sell it off. For what its worth, my 'fix' would start with scrapping the H*ndred and look to create something different and hopefully better. Not go back to what was there before. But, quite deliberately, the ECB have ensured that this can't happen. It is a sad state of affairs.

Letβs hope Richard Thompson is open to radical ideas
